About us

(re)searching urbanity is an interdisciplinary initiative that explores and amplifies marginalized and critical perspectives on the city. Based in Berlin, our international collective brings together researchers, activists, and practitioners from diverse fields, including architecture, urban planning, design, gender studies, philosophy, and political science. Since 2022, we have hosted self-organized, non-hierarchical events that foster exchange, collaboration, and active participation in discussing and reflecting on urban challenges.

Our projects

Symposium

The (re)searching urbanity symposium creates a space beyond the academic context where current urban challenges are critically discussed, creatively explored, and collaboratively addressed. Bringing together researchers, artists, and activists, it uses interactive formats to foreground non-established and marginalized voices, encourage exchange and collective reflection, and bring together diverse perspectives on present and future urban conditions.

RU Joining

RU Joining? is our informal event series that offers an open space to experiment with new formats, exchange perspectives, and explore ideas together in a cozy, relaxed setting.

Past events have included film screenings, workshops, urban walks, project presentations, open conversations, and creative sessions. Each edition brings together people from diverse backgrounds, creating space to share experiences, reflect collectively, and develop and engage with urban issues through a variety of formats and lenses.
